Today, 17 recruits were inducted into the Tasmania Police Service as part of the Accelerated Training Program. This is the largest group of accelerated recruits that have joined our service. The 12 men and 5 women have previous experience in other police services including the Northern Territory, Western Australia, Queensland, Victoria and New Zealand. The course, which also includes 4 former Tasmania Police members who have returned to the Apple Isle, will now undertake an intensive 12 week training program at the Tasmania Police Academy where they were welcomed by Deputy Commissioner Scott Tilyard this afternoon.
